Free Write 1, Week 10

In 2004, the old Cotton Warehouse was gutted out rubble with no roof where Amber and Tommy smoked weed beside broken bricks and trash. Where warehouse workers stored cotton and carpet from the factory, and then moved it onto the trains through the loading dock in front of my apartment. They smoked weed where Claire is sleeping right now, where rolls of carpet were stacked in the corner. They smoked, while we drank hunch punch where workers made textile. They smoked under the stars, where the façade of a roof is now, with red beams and yellow pipes mirroring factory setting, and blue Ethernet cords strung across. On the concrete floors where Kim and Gena spray painted a body silhouette on my apartment’s floor before moving out last year. The outline of a person laying on my living room floor under a rug where carpet was piled.
